Letter to the Brethren: January 16, 2025

Dear Brethren and Co-Workers in Christ:

Greetings from Grover Beach, California.

While the fires have devastated areas south of us, we have not been directly affected by them.

On other matters, we tried using a microphone I had for the sermonette and Steve Dupuie said this is improving the audio on the new platform we are using (Riverside) instead of Skype.

Steve Dupuie decided to shrink himself on the screen, so he tends to often be in the corner. We might wish to adjust that in the future.

Irrespective of that, we believe that both the audio and visual qualities are better.

Bible News Prophecy magazine

Although we pre-ordered copies of the next edition of our Bible News Prophecy magazine many weeks ago, Amazon Kindle has delayed shipping it. But finally they have arrived at the close of the day Tuesday and we have been shipping them out.

Also, for those in the United States who made donations, we also have included a donation receipt for 2024.

That said, a reader noticed that the description for an article in the contents section was wrong. I apology for missing that.

Anyway, that magazine is also available online. Here is a link to the Bible News Prophecy magazine, January – March 2025.

Back on Wilkins Radio

As mentioned nearly two years ago (see Letter to the Brethren: March 2, 2023), we had made a deal to go on the Wilkins Radio Network.

Then we were kicked off a few months later because the owner learned that we do not believe in the trinity that was pushed by the murderous 4th century Roman Emperor Theodosius.

So, because of that we then went on Legacy Broadcasting’s radio network (which we still are on).

Well, the owner of Wilkins died and his son contacted me late last Summer, apologized for our removal, and asked if we would come back. He made an attractive offer, but I declined as we did not have the funds.

While funds are still tight, he contacted me again and we signed a new contract to be on two regular and two rebroadcast stations–which also gives us the first month free. We are expected to be on twice per week, but it will be the same program–the one that Steve Dupuie and I do.
So, the Bible News Prophecy program is scheduled to air beginning February 1, 2025 on the following stations on the Wilkins Radio Network (WRN):

KCLE 1460 AM  6:45 – 7:00PM Saturday Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas; KCLE programming is also heard on two FM translator stations: KCLE 93.1 FM K226BM in Cleburne, Texas and KCLE 95.7 FM K239CC in Burleson, Texas.

WKID 95.9 FM 7:00 – 7:15PM Saturday Vevay, Indiana

All three KCLE stations are in the greater Dallas/Ft. Worth metropolitan area.
Additionally, per our contract, much of the time our program will be broadcasted again on Sundays:

KCLE AM/FM 2:30 – 2:45PM Sunday Subject to availability
WKID FM 10:00 – 10:15PM Sunday Subject to availability

This is the first radio expansion we have had in about 1 year and a half. But, I am glad we are able to increase our radio presence.

A full listing of our radio and other media outreaches is at the Continuing Church of God Multimedia page.

CCOG Spending in Calendar Year 2024

One project here has been finalizing our year-end accounting. We also have mailed out donation receipts to our USA supporters.

Regarding funds, Jesus said, “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21) and “I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink … inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me (Matthew 25:35,40) and “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

In the Roman calendar year of 2024, USA income we received fluctuated throughout the year, but ended up down 4.0%. We cut certain expenses, because of that.

We ended the calendar year with an additional congregants in Africa, compared to the start of 2024–and that is consistent with prophecies such as Romans 11:25 (see also What About Romans 11:25 and the Full Number of the Gentiles?). We also had additional members in the United States. The CCOG remains the fastest growing x-WCG group in the 21st century, hence we do have the fruits of a prophet (cf. Matthew 7:16-20).

So, how were funds spent?

In the CCOG we really do focus on others and reaching the world with the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. In 2024, we traveled to make and teach disciples in many lands (cf. Matthew 28:19-20), produced more literature, continued our radio presence, helped the poor, made future contacts related to the final phase of the work, and took major steps preparing for the short work of Romans 9:28 (see Preparing for the ‘Short Work’ and The Famine of the Word) as we work towards the fulfillment of Matthew 24:14.

In 2024, we passed having our English-language booklet, The Gospel of the Kingdom of God, translated and available in over 1500 languages/dialects (see also Preaching the Gospel in Over 1500 Languages)–it may be over 2,000 but we are dealing through a malware issue and expect to have at least 2,000 different languages and dialects up later this year. Nothing close to this has ever been done in the history of the Church of God from Acts 2 to present. This is something that is needed to help support the fulfillment of Matthew 24:14, Romans 9:28, Romans 11:25, the ‘Ezekiel warning’ (see What is the Ezekiel Warning?), and the ultimate fulfillment of Revelation 7:9. We also put out two free online books: Islamic and Biblical Prophecies for the 21st Century and Meditation for Faithful Christians.

Overall, if you sent the CCOG a check for US$100.00 in 2024 here is how it was spent:

  1. Internet proclamation 5.66
  2. Literature production 20.00
  3. Video and animation production 2.39
  4. Foreign final phase of the work 10.92
  5. Broadcast Radio 6.15
  6. US Feast of Tabernacles’ costs and US travel 3.48
  7. Administration and legal expenses 0.28
  8. Salaries, health insurance, and retirement plans for US leaders 0.00
  9. Youth Programs 4.41
  10. Support to or for Africa (proclamation and preaching 25.69, charitable 21.02) 46.71

Yes, our income goes to support the physically and spiritually poor as we work to fulfill Matthew 24:14, Romans 11:25, the Ezekiel warning, and Matthew 28:19-20.

Here are some longer explanations of each of the categories:

  1. Internet proclamation includes paying for servers, URL fees for websites, video platforms, and our Google and Microsoft campaigns to reach people around the world. The Google campaign made over 41 million impressions on personal computers, laptops, tablets, and ‘smart’ cellular telephones with parts of the Philadelphian message in 2024–this would have been much higher, but because Google changed its rules, the aspects of the campaign were put on hold by Google for many months in 2024. The Microsoft campaign, which targets 7th day Sabbath keepers, has had 511,216 computer impressions in 2024.
  2. Literature include the production costs, printing, certain translation costs (CCOG member translators are volunteers, but we also have an arrangement with an orphanage in Pakistan that we pay for those who volunteer to help it via doing translations for us), and distribution of the BibleNewsProphecy magazine in various languages as well as various books and booklets. The costs here also include formatting non-English literature in forms that it can be available on the internet as well as forms to allow it to be printed in the USA and Africa. The good news is supposed to be “published” (Mark 13:10, KJV/AFV) and we are doing that in both the Western and Eastern Hemispheres.
  3. Video and animation production covers the costs to produce the BibleNewsProphecy videos, CCOG animations, the Behind the Works video, and the creation of DVDs that are sent to some international locations for the Feast of Tabernacles. It also, sometimes, includes cost for sermon production–but those costs are normally negligible. These videos are one of the major ways we reach people in different nations around the world (as we also do via radio and literature). Because we mainly use free platforms, we do not have to spend massive amounts here.
  4. Foreign Final phase of the work expenses (professional fees, project support, government fees, and travel) are generally for non-USA matters (essentially long-term proclamation matters related to Romans 9:23-28 and 11:23-28; see also The Final Phase of the Work). We are still involved in making contacts and working with various government, NGOs, and private organizations in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. We were able to make (as well as better solidify) certain key contacts as well as attain information and opportunities which we believe supports the final phase of the work. US expenses related to the final phase of the work are in other categories (like Literature and Internet expenses).
  5. Radio expenses are basically fees we pay to broadcast the good news of the Kingdom of God on commercial radio stations. We are on several stations, including two shortwave stations. We are on AM and shortwave radio in Europe which also covers parts of North Africa and the Middle East (and a group in France paid that for us directly in 2024),  one radio station in Kenya, one station in Ghana (which is mainly paid for by the brethren in Ghana), plus we are on a shortwave station in the USA that also covers parts of Asia. Our online internet radio station expenses are mainly covered by New Zealand or related to volunteer efforts (so not shown here). For radio station details, check out our Continuing Church of God Multimedia page.
  6. US Feast of Tabernacles’ costs include what the hotel charges for the meeting room and some travel and other expenses. This category also includes other US travel, which tends to be low.
  7. Administrative expenses. This tends to include a few office supplies, mandatory government fees, and telephone costs. My business office does NOT charge the CCOG for use of space, electricity, postal machine use, etc.
  8. Salaries are not paid to leaders in the USA. People such as myself, Steve Dupuie, Louis Rubin, Bill Wedekind, James Martenet, and our Spanish language translators like Carlos Aponte and Oscar Leal are also not paid—we all have freely donated our time. Nor have we paid wages for their spouses. Nor have we funded any retirement nor health insurance plans.
  9. Youth Programs. This mainly covers costs for paying for youth camps in Africa, but also sometimes other expenses for programs targeted towards the youth. This is needed for many reasons, including some associated with the end times (cf. Malachi 4:6.
  10. Support for Africa includes paying for ministerial expenses to reach and teach, travel to preach the gospel of the Kingdom of God, printing some literature, certain translation expenses, distributing literature, meeting space assistance, supporting the poor (Galatians 2:10; Romans 12:13; cf. James 2:14-16; Hebrews 13:16; Isaiah 58:7; Proverbs 28:27), including widows and orphans (James 1:27). Roughly 55% of the funds here go for ministerial proclamation, ministerial travel, and building churches. The remaining 45% is mainly to support the poor, hungry, etc. The vast majority of our members reside in Africa and many fruits are being produced. The Bible is clear that the fulness/full number of the Gentiles must come in before Jesus returns (Romans 11:25; see also What About Romans 11:25 and the Full Number of the Gentiles?) and our spending reflects our seriousness in working to help this get accomplished. The results of these efforts continue to bear fruits (cf. Matthew 7:16-20).

The vast bulk of funds are spent to preach, witness (Matthew 24:14), reach, broadcast, produce literature, prepare for the short work (Romans 9:28), and teach, with nearly all the rest (21+%) to support the poor ,widows, and orphans (the “+” is the 21% was not counting the support for an orphanage in Pakistan–which supports gospel of the kingdom translations or the Youth Programs). It appears that never before in Church of God history have so few helped so many with so little for so long in order to have the impact that the Continuing Church of God is having.

More on our presence in various media can be found at the Continuing Church of God Multimedia page.

We strongly believe that whatever you send is well spent to support the Philadelphian remnant as we work on Matthew 24:14 and Matthew 28:19-20 while we strive to be ready for the short work (Romans 9:28) and our part in the final phase of the work (e.g. Daniel 11:32; Luke 21:12-17).

The Continuing Church of God accepts tithes, offerings, and other financial donations.

Those who wish to voluntarily aid and support this worldwide Work of God are gladly welcomed as co-workers in this major effort to preach and publish the gospel to all nations per Matthew 24:14 and Matthew 28:19-20.

Donations to the Continuing Church of God are 100% deductible in all the US states. Here is a link to the CCOG-USA office donations’ page: Donations.

Tax exempt status in New Zealand was long ago approved, and hence donations in New Zealand are also fully tax deductible. Check out CCOG.nz as you have to send donations to New Zealand for them to be deductible there.

Tax exempt status in Canada was also long ago approved, and hence donations in Canada are also fully tax deductible. Check out CCOGCANADA.CA as you have to send donations to Canada for them to be deductible there.

Hear the words of Jesus:

2 … The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. (Luke 10:2).

Pray for more laborers for the harvest as we push forward to do the work. Thank you for your support.

Suggested Sabbath Services

Here is a suggested Sabbath day service for our scattered brethren and other interested people for the Last Great Day Sabbath service:

Note: If you have a slow internet connection, you can watch these by starting the video, then below it (and towards the right) look for an outline of a gear–if you click on that, it will allow the YouTube video to be played with lower video quality, but at least it will not stop often–you can select a quality as low as 144p. If your internet connection is still too slow (as my home one is) and/or you prefer audio messages to audio-visuals ones, go to the YouTube link for the message, click on SHOW MORE related to the description. You will then see something that says, “Download MP3.” Below that is a link to an MP3 file. Most computers (and even some cellular telephones) will allow MP3 files to be downloaded and played. This is an option we have made available (but we are also looking into ways to improve that as well)–and, of course, we have written article options. Some people have found that if their internet connections are not fast enough, that they can simply listen to the messages that are found at the Bible News Prophecy online radio channel.

IN CASE YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A ‘LETTER TO THE BRETHREN’ FOR ANY WEEK, REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE MANY SERMON MESSAGES ON THE ContinuingCOG channel AND MANY SERMONETTE MESSAGES ON THE Bible News Prophecy channel. There are also some messages at the CCOGAfrica channel. There are also messages in the Spanish language at the CDLIDDSermones channel.

World News Items

Over in India, hundreds of millions of Hindus are celebrating (see Hindus kick off Maha Kumbh festival. What do they believe? What will happen to Hindus?). They hope by going into the Ganges river that they can purify themselves, break the reincarnation cycle, and enter “moksha,” which Buddhist and some Hindus also call nirvana. Of course, that is not God’s plan. The Bible does teach that all will be resurrected, including Hindus who will be brought back to life physically, and have a real opportunity for  salvation (see also the free online book Universal OFFER of Salvation, Apokatastasis: Can God save the lost in an age to come? Hundreds of scriptures reveal God’s plan of salvation). But most of the world is ignorant of God’s real plan of salvation.

Now, there are concerns in Europe that the anti-immigrant AfD party may make major electoral gains in Germany. So much so, it has been proposed that the election results be ignored if that happens (see AfD pushing for mass deportation of migrants as German election nears–what if the AfD wins?). The Bible shows that a dictatorship, led by one called the Beast, will happen as the result of two coming reorganizations in Europe (Revelation 17:12-13). People who are putting their faith in democracy will be disappointed with what will one day occur in Europe.

Europeans are currently fearful of Donald Trump who is scheduled to assume office next Monday (see Europeans fearful of Donald Trump’s second term–fear is a powerful motivator).

Speaking of Europe, leaders from there met Arab leaders this past week to discuss Syria (see European and Arab leaders meet related to Syria–a prelude to prophesied deals?). The Bible shows that Europeans and Arabs will make at least 2-3 deals (cf. Daniel 9:27, 11:27; Psalm 83:3-8), so this week’s meeting is somewhat a prelude.

A tentative multi-part peace deal was announced by US President Joe Biden involving Israel and Hamas yesterday (see Joe Biden announces Hamas-Israel deal and claims a “permanent” peace–but what about Daniel 9:27?). He stressed this deal would bring a “permanent end of the war,” but that was overly optimistic. Furthermore, the Associated Press reported potential problems with ratifying the deal today (https://apnews.com/article/israel-palestinians-hamas-war-news-ceasefire-hostages-01-16-2024-dc0ef64dd52db395c5a54328518e8efd)–but even if it goes into effect, unless this deal changes or has some multi-year provision that was not publicly announced, it is NOT the deal of Daniel 9:27–and even that deal is temporary. We need Jesus, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), to return for real peace over there.

In the USA, the fires in Southern California have tended to dominate the news the past week or so (e.g. see ‘Apocalyptic’ fires are the most destructive in Southern California’s history and Los Angeles fires Pre-Messianic? Remember God controls the wind–will you heed? and Fires rage, criminals loot, DEI politicians defer, as Southern California has its most expensive disaster so far) and California fires may be most expensive ‘natural disaster’ in US history–most were not prepared).

Fires are also the topic of our recommended sermonette for this Sabbath: Fires and God’s Wrath.

Wildfires happen every year. But what has been happening in the Los Angeles basin has been horrific–they are believed to be the most destructive and damage more expensive than any in the history of Southern California (see Fires rage, criminals loot, DEI politicians defer, as Southern California has its most expensive disaster so far) and perhaps even in the history of the USA (see California fires may be most expensive ‘natural disaster’ in US history–most were not prepared).

Back in 2017, I warned during a time of fires in California:

Parts of California still are on fire and at least 100,000 people have been evacuated … I, who also live in California, also pray that those in California will repent as worse problems are ahead if it continues to go in a moral direction away from the Bible. California set a bad standard when it became the first USA state to outlaw attempts to convert homosexuals from that ‘lifestyle’ (see California’s Brown Signs Anti-Homosexual Conversion Bill). Additionally, the State of California has made a bunch of anti-biblical anti-truth laws to promote the LGBTQ agenda (see  ‘California To Have Harsher Penalty For Pronoun Violations Than For Knowingly Spreading HIV’ and Ba’al-ifornia: California’s intent to change gender definitions). Plus California has other issues where it is also setting very bad examples (such as the production of pornographic entertainment). …

Weather problems can be a warning to people that society is going in the wrong direction (Amos 4:7-12). Notice also God’s use of fire between three thousand and four thousand years ago:

24 Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. (Genesis 19:24-25)

And why did it happen?

7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 7)

Why mention this in the 21st century? Because God turned:

6…the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6)

Notice also the following:

11 “I overthrew some of you,
As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah,
And you were like a firebrand plucked from the burning;
Yet you have not returned to Me,”
Says the Lord.

12 “Therefore thus will I do to you, O Israel;
Because I will do this to you,
Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!” (Amos 4:11-12)

Fires should get people to consider. But will people in California, the USA, or the other Anglo-descended areas heed?

(Thiel B. California evacuates 100,000 due to wildfires; Hurricane Ophelia affects Azores and Ireland. COGwriter, October 14, 2017)

The Bible shows that God uses weather to get people’s attention. Sometimes to punish, sometimes to lead to repentance, and other times to consider that God, not humankind, is in control. The Bible itself mentions fire as a tool that God sometimes uses. … “the wrath of God” is at least partially directed towards those that practice or condone sexual immorality like homosexuality and lesbianism. The sorrows and troubles are just beginning and will get much worse. Fires should get people to consider. But will people in California, the USA, or the other Anglo-descended areas heed? (Thiel B. California Governor warns President Trump about ‘the wrath of God’ and claims destructive fires are the ‘new normal’. COGwriter, December 10, 2017)

Instead of repenting, officials in the State of California continued to promote sexual immorality and the LGBTQ+ agenda.

Administratively, the State of California did NOT take the steps it should have which has made the situation much worse than it otherwise could have been. Those blinded by pushing perversion did not take the physical steps that should have been taken in preparation. Some have recently asserted that this will be the most expensive “natural disaster” in the history of the United States–much of which could have been avoided if government officials (and others) took the proper steps.

Most end time Christians also are not taking the steps that they should be taking either (cf. Revelation 3:14-22). Only those that do are promised protection from Jesus (Revelation 3:7-13) from the coming “hour of trial” (Revelation 3:10), which is greatest tribulation the world has ever seen (Matthew 24:21-22). Consider also the article: Why is there a Philadelphian remnant of the true Christian Church of God? and the related sermon: The Philadelphia Remnant.

Concluding Comments

The Apostle Paul wrote:

57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:57-58)

Brethren, our Christian labors are not in vain.

Remember brethren to always be “always abounding in the work of the Lord.”

Sincerely,

Bob Thiel
